Utsav Day 3
The penultimate night of Utsav saw the much awaited event of Western Group Dance. The best dancers of Manipal University were pit against each other in what culminated to be a spectacular event. The stage was set ablaze by the dancers who dazzled the audience as the stage lights beamed on them. KMC’s Western Dance Group ‘Phoenix’- a ten person dance group comprising Dr. Kaustabh Sen, Dr. Pritvik B Sharath, Umang Aggarwal, Sindhu Manjunath, Bijoyini Bose, Sumanth Kohima, Utkarsh Mishra, Akash Nayak S, Aditi Kapoor and Sudeepti Singh put up a performance that truly stood out.
Taking the stage to deafening cheers from hundreds of KMCites, Phoenix proceeded to enthrall its audience with jaw dropping steps and formations. Pritvik B Sharath, Akash Nayak S and Sumanth Kohima leapt and bound across the stage, gloriously defiant of the laws of gravity. The performance was arguably at its zenith when Sumanth climbed on top a three person pyramid and danced to ‘I’m a Barbie girl’ as the other dancers rotated him around in a truly incredible fashion.
Another high point worth noting was when the troupe formed an army tanker in rather mesmerising fashion. The popular songs ‘Ragga Bomb’, ‘Shape of You’, ‘Bonbon’ and ‘Smooth Criminal’ among others were masterfully used to create a performance all of KMC could be proud of.
