Even though Meghna wishes to be described as FIERCE, she is anything but. Her personality is quirky at best, with a tinge of weird. When she’s not doing the robot or chuckling at lame jokes, she’s writing and dreaming up of stories that will never see the light of day. (In fact, she tried to handwrite her own ‘Weekly Post’ Newspaper at the ripe old age of twelve.) Apart from her creative side, Meghna also aspires to become a world class doctor and is currently in her 3rd year of Medical College in India. She hopes to be able to manage the hectic lifestyle of a medical student but still have the quintessential college experience.
Aniket Naik, more commonly known as Panda, is a writer for the Editorial board and an avid daydreamer who lets his imagination run wild behind the closed doors of his mind. He can often be found either in his room or in the library playing Dota 2. Sometimes, you might find him actually socializing with people, if you’re lucky. Apart from that, he generally passes time by jotting plot points to stories which will never be written and surfing gaming channels on YouTube.
If two paths diverged in a yellow wood, Rohini Bilagi would walk instead through the long grass on a tangent. She enjoys taking up new hobbies that last a week as well as bookmarking pages in books that she finds her way back to after a few months. You can often find her scribbling away in a notebook, whether it be notes, reminders about work, scraps of writing or absent-minded doodles. Her trips take her far and wide, through myriad worlds in books and shows and movies, although her wanderlust often peeps through into reality as well.
Head of Photography
You may find her capturing a cricket match in progress or walking through the streets trying to click the beauty of the mundane city life. Although Disha is adept at capturing a variety of themes, aerial photography is the dream of this quintessential Bong girl. Responsible for the perfect smile of her friends in their pics, the myriad of human emotions are best expressed in her photographs. Being an ardent foodie, food photography is one of the chief to-do things among her photography goals. Not a woman of many words, she hums contemporary tunes to herself when no one is around. When she is not found creating stories through her camera, she can be seen painting stories on her canvas.

Siddarth Pratapneni (Neni) has been a photographer at Ed Board for just over a year now. Throughout his childhood, he always showed a keen interest in his dad’s camera, but was never allowed anywhere near it, with good reason. At the age of 12, his dad finally let him use his camera (a Nikon D80 with an 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G lens btw), and he’s been taking photos non-stop ever since. According to him, the joy that comes with taking someone’s photo and giving them a memory to keep forever as well as being able to capture the simple beauties of nature, which often go overlooked, are the two reasons he remains hooked on photography. He also plays some basketball, obsesses over cars and bikes, absolutely adores comm med, watches a ton of movies, listens to a lot of music, hates jogging and loves chocolate alongwith basically anything else that’s unhealthy (Except caramel. He hates caramel. Unless it’s on popcorn.)
Aarthi loves being able to express her thoughts through different forms of art, be it mindless doodles in the back of her notebook or elaborate paintings. Born in India, brought up in the US by typical south indian parents, she loves putting her own modern twist on tradition. This is one human who will never stop talking once you get her started, and who will always love you if you give her food.
Jill of all trades, Aarushi is passionate about writing, reading and abstract art. Her friends call her a patient and empathetic listener, a logical thinker. A chronic bibliophile, she can always be found curled up with a book in hand, lost in her own world. She likes to listen, talk, write, dream, observe, watch the world go by. She loves to see the sun rise and set, the moon and stars. A pluviophile and selenophile, she believes the most beautiful inspiration is nature. A lover of all animals, particularly dogs, she can always be found petting and cooing at any dog she sees. To her, the world is a blank canvas upon which she would like to paint with her thoughts.
Salt, spice, and everything dark. These are the ingredients that make the perfect evil girls. A cartload of social awkwardness with this, and the result is Adithi Shankar. She was born with a clinical condition called RBF (read up on it). An exponent in writing extremely sad stories, she could dampen Luna Lovegood’s mood with her prose. Her love for Sakura pens is pure and true and considered disconcerting by many. If blessed with the chance, she would go out of the way to prove someone’s stupidity. The number of breakdowns she has per week is only exceeded by the number of ex-boyfriends Taylor Swift has. Given a choice, she would take off with The Doctor in his TARDIS because she’s fifty shades of done with humanity.
Aishwarya Yannamani is an artist at Editorial Board (work in progress). Hailing from Mumbai, she’s a quirky, driven, diligent human being who is open to learning at every step of the way. She loves reading books and watching anime. (All the nerds, raise your wands up!) And finally, she wishes everyone who’s reading this, “G’day mate!”
A fine blend of intelligence as well as light heartedness, Akshay Chaudhary has a golden heart from the golden sands of Punjab (and strangely still a teetotaler despite being from Punjab). He’s had an avid interest to be a neurosurgeon ever since his childhood, taking his spur from his father; but apart from becoming a doctor, he’d also aspired to be a photographer. Now, he’s been doing photography for the past three years and there’s never been a moment when he looked back. He believes that a picture is worth a thousand words and proves it with his way of clicking pictures. With an ardent interest in nature photography, he has worked with Ludhiana Photography Enthusiasts Group for the past three years and his adoration for nature can be seen through his pictures. He is often seen giggling around with his friends and making them laugh, as it’s his favourite thing to do – after eating biryani, because after all, he’s a Punjabi in at least some way!
Angad Gummaraju is the person you’d probably refer to as ‘that guy’. With a strong inclination toward fighting for a greater good, Angad’s daily battles are a colorfully explosive balancing act between medicine, art and anything that falls under the enormous umbrella of personal growth. When Angad refers to art, he’s likely talking about painting, doodling, learning languages, graphic design, Carnatic music or cooking. Lost in a storm of everything, but slowly finding his way, he likes to refer to himself as a work in progress.
Arjun S Nair
Arjun S Nair is currently a Second Year student at KMC Manipal and is working in the College’s blog as an artist. An avid lover of music and movies (these two taking up at least 90% of his cranial capacity), Arjun can typically be found sleeping, laying out some sick beats on his drums, catching up with the latest movie or creating spectacular artwork. Often called a hipster by his friends because of his shabby clothing and general dislike towards mainstream culture, he brings some of the most creative ideas to the artist’s desk. A possessor of an incredible shock of hair and enviable amounts of swag, Arjun is easily one of the nicest and coolest members KMC’s Editorial Board is proud to boast of.
Who is… Ashwin? Creative. Energetic. Looks for the weird in everything. And finds it. Artist extraordinaire, his work will be sure to blow you away, so stay on the lookout for posts from this shwarma loving British-Indian unicorn.
She calls herself a perpetually happy person with a penchant for the macabre. You might find her giggling in a corner writing sad and dark poems. She loves intelligent humor and will aptly provide you with bad jokes and cool quotes if you manage to ask when she isn’t daydreaming.
Chances are you’ll find this inquisitive photographer with his earphones plugged in, dreaming on, oblivious to the mundane events of daily life. With a flair for opera, Harsh is equally passionate about music as he is about photography. While clicking the daily lives of the urban folk is his forte, he wants to focus more on capturing the resplendent beauty of nature. Besides being a (self acclaimed) napping expert, he’s a man of many languages and a hardcore bibliophile, his favourites ranging from Dan Brown to Khaled Hosseini. Wondering what to do if you want him to click a great picture? Get him a bottle of his drug, iced tea, and watch him beam as he gets behind the lens; and as he does so, you just might hear him making another one of his many references few seem to get- “For you, a thousand times over.”
Ishani is a coffee-chugging nap-loving writer for the Editorial Board. She is exceptionally good at being chased by crows and getting strangers to shoo cockroaches out of her hostel room. In her spare time she can be found battling casual sexism, watching John Oliver videos online or planning her next meal. Occasionally (but not often) she even sets out to do something productive.
This Bengali likes to live broke and hungry. Most of that hunger is derived from an absence of fish, the sight of which brings water to his eyes. He resides in his habitat with his notebook and his camera. He’s on the lookout for people who too don’t find The Beatles or Dylan obscure in the trembling tens.
A 20 year old movie-buff and a go-to foodie, Rohan Basak is a fun loving, second year MBBS student at KMC Manipal who loves to travel all around the world and has an appetite for trivia and languages. He works as a writer in MTTN and the KMC Editorial Board. His hobbies include reading books (of all genres and sizes), playing racquet sports, watching movies and writing poems. A Tamillian at heart and a Bengali by birth, he loves spending quality time with people. You might want to roam around with him as he is often seen as a good companion- endless talks, suggestions for places to eat and hang around, good music and what not. He can be seen playing games on his most prized possession- his grey Alienware 12, eating a variety of stuff in random places or hanging around with a group of people.
Sanket describes himself as a ‘kawaii potato with a camera’. He is fascinated by the fact that a single picture has the ability to convey so many emotions. A single click of the button permanently freezing a feeling and transforming it into a picture is something that thrills him. Providing people with their pretty pictures is something that gladdens him. He has an avid interest in ‘concept photography’ and uses his leisure time to improvise and try out novel ideas. Coming back to a home with a small studio after hours of medical practice is his dream! He eats like a king and sleeps like a comatose bear after watching Real Madrid lose a football match. He plays some tennis, drinks a lot of coffee, studies like a bee, cracks jokes which only he understands (most of the times), knows a lot of random trivia, loves potatoes (Aaloo) and absolutely detests mayonnaise!
Hailing from Lucknow, the City of Nawabs, Shivangi Maheshwari is someone you can always rely on. An avid reader and a Potterhead, her dream is to take a road trip to Spain one day. She loves to watch cricket and listens to more music than she probably should. An introvert by choice, she can watch movies day in and day out. Nature photography is her passion and she aspires to be a General Surgeon in the future. A good book and good music are her favourite company.
Shraddha is a Gujju by heart, South Indian by genes and a true Indian by soul. She’s a part time artist, part time writer and full time Potterhead. Her many talents include spewing old hindi movie facts, knowing the steps to every odd Bollywood song and chasing pests out of hostel rooms. She’s a multi linguist (fluent in tamil, Malayalam, hindi, gujrati, English and working on kannada) thus making her the star of every medicine posting. Fun fact: she hates cheese but loves cheesecake.
Shreya Utla is a sort of artist, sort of writer, sort of medical student. She is also a lover of film and music, dogs and dad jokes, most food and coffee the color of death itself, not necessarily in that order. Known for her prolific contribution to awkward social situations, her many talents include brooding, contemplating the questions of life, the universe, and everything, and speaking Telugu with a Kannadiga accent and a straight face while pretending like she’s really speaking Kannada. She is now in her third year in the Editorial Board, and she hopes she can continue to contribute new and interesting content.
Sidharth Ramesh is a wanderer. He knows a little of photography, does a little writing, a little of programming, a little of everything. He helps out with different things and is still finding his place. He believes that capturing a scene and finding the elements that makes that scene great, and expressing it, is the soul of art. He choose photography because it is one of the easier ways of that artistic expression.
Sumedha Sircar is a second year student at KMC Manipal, working in the college’s Editorial Board as a writer. Her interests span from Second World War based fiction to Stanley Kubrick movies to John Oliver, and almost everything in between. A social media dinosaur (the point of Snapchat is lost on her), Sumedha is nevertheless creepily well-informed of college gossip. She can often be found finishing record work she despises listening to Shostakovich – which she recently discovered much to her delight and much to her neighbours’ dismay. Approach her if you want to geek out about great movies, books, conspiracy theories or watch the stars. Be warned through, she will claw your eyes out if you make the mistake of approaching her when she’s sleepy.
Vaibhava is a first year student of KMC, Manipal and a photographer for the Editorial Board. Being from Delhi, he has a keen interest in history. He often finds himself wandering the narrow streets of Delhi with a camera in his hands and a notebook in his bag, hoping to capture life in the chaos of our times. The musical genius of Lou Reed, David Gilmour and Paul McCartney have a special place in his heart.
Veeradithya Ballal is a second semester student of KMC, Manipal, and is an Artist for the Editorial board. He has a passion for art, and pencils are his tool of choice. His other passions include Classic rock , progressive metal/rock music. He also identifies as a Car Junkie. His trigger words include ‘Opeth’, ‘Steven Wilson’, ‘Sebastien Loeb’, anything that describes four wheels with an engine, and of course ‘Pizza’.
A 20 year old awkward human being, trying to be more than just another medical student. Is seriously considering taking up ‘napping’ as a career. Will be found watching random buzz feed videos at ungodly hours of the night. Will also be found sleeping in hospital beds at 11 AM in the morning. Lacks general social skills(will flee on seeing a group of more than 2 people). Employs earphones to get out of awkward social situations. Firm believer in the power of words – often wields the pen during difficult times. Avid reader. Adventure seeker. Professional napper.
Vivek Mahapatra is a firm believer in the many-world theory, so much so, that most of his time is spent in other worlds than these. Be it traipsing through lush wilderness alongside characters spun into tales caged by ink, or be it staring into the maw of danger well-rendered by a computers whim, or even be it being entranced by the magic of dreams made real upon celluloid, He is always up for an adventure. He did learn to write, but unfortunately missed the lesson where they would’ve told him when to stop.
Xerxes Rahman is a first year medical student at KMC, Manipal, hailing from the city of Calcutta. His ambition is to specialize in trauma surgery. He owns and runs a One Person Company and has knowledge of WordPress development. His pastimes include playing the guitar, quizzing, gaming, and running. His favorite artists are Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey, and The Weeknd. His #1 movie is Rear Window.
Zeshan is a second semester student at KMC who is probably more Yin than Yang. If you don’t find him penning down his next poem, he’s probably engrossed in a Nolan movie (Interstellar fans, whaddup). Amiable and humble, a conversation with him would be incomplete without banter and a few lame jokes. A casual tennis player and football midfielder, he loves hanging out with friends and would probably be seen silently humming Ed Sheeran when he’s by himself. An aspiring teacher, he’d love to add life to lessons someday.
